Figure \( 4(1 \mathrm{ft}=12 \) inches \( ) \) a) Determine the maximum load \( \mathbf{P} \) that can be supported by the truss without causing the member BD to buckle. Assume that member BD remains straight until its critical load \( P_{c r} \) is reached. [7 marks] b) If the yield stress of A992 steel is \( 50 \mathrm{ksi} \), check whether the critical load \( \mathrm{P}_{\mathrm{cr}} \) in member BD would cause the member to yield.
