Review the slide show about the various ways to describe a business. In this discussion, you will do one initial post and respond to three of your classmates. In your initial discussion post, identify a specific business and consider its external relationships. The Quadrant: First, identify the “animal” quadrant in which the business mainly operates, and explain why it qualifies to be included in that quadrant. The Customer: Describe the main customer of your chosen business. Be specific. Rather than identify anyone who could be the customer, you should describe the characteristics of the customer who is most likely to patronize the business. The Value: Identify the value that the business offers to its customers. Again, be specific. Note that this may not be the specific product or service provided by the business. Think in terms of the thing(s) that the business provides that are not the same as its competitors, that attract the customer. The Flow of Revenue: Speculate about who pays for what, and why. You may not know the details of this, but certain assumptions can be made about where, outside the business, does the revenue come from? How does money go back out of the business? It may or may not be the end-user who pays money in, and there are likely many ways it is paid out.
