For the shaft shown, pulley A received power from a motor through a belt with belt tensions as shown. The power is transmitted through the shaft and delivered to the belt on pulley B. Assume that the shaft is rotating a constant velocity and the belt tension on the loose side of pulley B is 15 percent of tension on the tight side. All dimensions are in inches. The shaft. is made from CD 1018 steel. 1. Determine the tensions in the belt on pulley B, assuming the shaft is running at a constant speed. 2. Find the magnitude of the bearing reaction forces, assuming the bearing act as simple supports. 3. Draw shear-force and bending-moment diagrams for the shaft. If needed make one set for the horizontal plane and another set for the vertical plane. 4. At the section of maximum bending- moment, determine the bending stress the torsional shear stress.
