Fido is a middle aged white guy who has spent much of his life completely convinced that the government and various dangerous organizations are out to get him and are all spying on him through all of the technology in his home. As a result, he avoids using computers or cell phones and refuses to have any kind of "smart" appliances or televisions. He also has stockpiled food and water in his backyard shed as he believes that doomsday is coming and he wants to be able to survive. Fido used to live with his wife in a major city, but his wife divorced him, so he moved to a very remote area that he felt was "safe". He avoids being found by the government by not paying taxes and not interacting with government agencies. Actually he pretty well only interacts with people who live near him and who he has deemed "safe". He communicates a little with people who do not live near him via the US Mail rather than by phone or email. Fido has been this way for most of his adult life and other people find him "odd" and eccentric but he does have quite a few friends who seem to enjoy spending time with him - they just put up with his quirkiness and ignore his doomsday conspiracy talk. He lives comfortably because he has a great deal of money that he saved after he sold the rights to one of his major inventions several years ago. He has many hobbies and enjoys exercising and engaging in artistic pursuits. He maintains a good relationship with is ex-wife and his family, though all of them do agree that Fido is quirky and rather strange. What personality disorder would this be a good example of?
