Diels-Alder Adduct of Cyclopentadiene and Maleic Acid reaction. 1. One of the starting materials for both of the reactions carried out in this experiment is a white crystalline solid (maleic acid and fumaric acid). The product for both of these reactions should also be white crystalline solids. When you isolate the product how will you know a reaction has taken place at all? Be specific and include necessary literature values. \( 2 . \) a. There are four stereoisomers that could be produced as a result of the Diels-Alder Reactions in this experiment. Draw the structures of all four. The easiest way to draw these structures may be to reproduce the structure shown on page 1 of this handout and use wedge and hatched style bonds to indicate the stereoisomers. b. Indicate which structures are chiral. c. Predict for each isomer how many resonances should appear on the \( 13 \mathrm{C} \) NMR spectrum. 3. What is the molar mass of the product isomers? For a big hint look at the balanced chemical equation for one of the reactions.
