Design statement: Design a traffic light controller where the lights are assumed to be at a four-way intersection with one street going north-south and the other road going east-west. To simulate these traffic lights, we will use the 7-segment display on the MAX10 system board. Figurel shows the two traffic lights, while tablel represent the operation sequence at which the two traffics working. Use the two most digits of the 7-segmnet display on the MAX10 to simulate the two traffic lights. Figure 2 shows the seven segments LED display controlled by FPGA user-I/O pins. Figure 1 Table I Procedure: 1. Drive the state diagram for the traffic light controller. 2. Open a VHDL file with the following port declaration. 3. Synthesize your code. 4. Do the appropriate pin assignment in order to implement your design on MAX10. 5. Show the RTL of your design. 1. Modify above code such that the two traffic lights have sensors. If one of the traffic lights in green states and no cars detected at this traffic light and in the same time, cars detected at the other side, then, the controller should force the current traffic light to change its status to red while the others become green. If no cars detected at both sides, then the traffic light controller operate normally. Show only the part of code you change. Do the appropriate simulation to your design. Notice that, the output of the traffic lights status will be presented as bits.
