A wastewater treatment plant is designed to receive a municipal wastewater from a housing area of 5000 residences. The primary and secondary sludges are mixed and treated by anaerobic digestion. The wastewater and treatment plant characteristics are given in Table 1. a) Calculate the solid generated in the primary and secondary clarifier treatment plant. b) Determine the volume of each type of sludge if \( 5 \% \) and \( 1.5 \% \) of solid sludge present in primary and secondary effluent, respectively. c) Estimate the sludge volume reduction if the thickener may be used before treated by an anerobic digestion. Assume the sludge in the thickener is \( 2.5 \% \) of solid.
