A voltaic cell with an alkaline (basic) aqueous electrolyte is based on the reaction between \( \mathrm{MnO}_{4}{ }^{-}(a q) \) and \( \mathrm{Cd}^{\prime}(s) \), producing \( \mathrm{MnO}_{2}(\mathrm{~s}) \) and \( \mathrm{Cd}^{2+}( \) aqq). Write half-reactions for the anode and cathode and then write a balanced cell reaction. Please include the states of matter in the equations.
Cathode: \[ 3 \mathrm{e}^{-}+2 \mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O}(\mathrm{l})+\mathrm{MnO}_{4}^{-}(a q) \longrightarrow \mathrm{MnO}_{2}(s)+4 \mathrm{OH}^{-}(a q) \] Part 3 (0.3 point) Cell: \[ 2 \mathrm{MnO}_{4}^{-}(a q)+3 \mathrm{Cd}^{2+}(a q)+2 \mathrm{MnO}_{2}(s)+8 \mathrm{OH}(a q)+\mathrm{Cd}^{2+} \]
