To draw the MO diagram for [CoCl6]4-, we need to first determine the point group of the molecule. The [CoCl6]4- anion has an octahedral geometry with the Co ion in the center and six Cl ions at the vertices. The point group of an octahedral molecule is Oh.We can use the d-orbitals of the Co ion and the p-orbitals of the Cl ions to form molecular orbitals.
