1. The graduate school faculty wants to examine the usefulness of relaxation techniques to reduce levels of stress in doctoral students. They selected 30 students at random from a group of 100 who have "high stress" classes this term. The 30 students are divided into two groups. One group acts as the control group - they receive no information on relaxation techniques. The second group of 15 receive the relaxation technique information. The subjects in each group are then given a stress inventory. The summarized results appear below where higher scores are indicative of greater anxiety.
