1. A rectangular prism structure is to be used in the wind with its long boundaries perpendicular to the wind direction. To identify the possibility of galloping, a quasi-steady study is conducted through laboratory tests. In the laboratory test, a fixed cylinder is put in a wind tunnel and the wind direction has a angle ? relative to the horizontal axis as shown in the figure. The drag coefficient (in the flow direction) and the lift coefficient (perpendicular to the flow) are measured and listed in the table. Determine if galloping would occur if the cylinder is flexibly mounted.
